Wamkanganise is an mbira maker, mbira player and singer from Zimbabwe, who now resides in California. He composes, arranges and sings traditional and contemporary mbira music from the Shona people of Zimbabwe. The Mbira is an instrument that has been developed in Zimbabwe for more than 1,000 years. Wamkanganise plucks tuned metal keys on a wooden board which resonates the sound. The mbira is further amplified by setting in a deze (large gourd).

Wamkanganise is also an instrument maker, so he has built the instrument he uses in his performances.
