Join us on May 31 from 7:00 to 9:30 PM at the International House Davis for Spring Breeze: A Concert of Traditional Japanese Music. This event creates a calm and relaxing atmosphere for the audience, making this spring celebration truly special and peaceful. The audience will experience the purely traditional Japanese music back from the 17th century of Japan, when this type of music originated and has played a significant role in Japanese culture. There also will be a dance performance associated with one of the music pieces. Our audience will visually see that every movement in the dance tells a story’s detail and conveys a deep emotion.
The traditional Japanese instruments and performances include koto (harp), shamisen
(lute), vocal, shakuhachi (flute), and jiutamai (dance). Popular Japanese classical music pieces representing the season of spring are selected for this concert. Local vendors and exhibitions include Tea Ceremony, Miniature Origami, and Kimono Sales.
This event will promote cultural understanding and diversity. Come join us to immerse yourself in a spring world of the 17th century of Japan! Supported, in part, by a grant from the City of Davis Arts and Cultural Affairs Program
