How do students learn to read English words? What parts of the brain are involved?
Tara, an academic intervention teacher from the Sacramento region and IPC facilitator, will engage IPC members in a workshop about how students learn to read English words, and what parts of the brain are involved. Researchers have developed a new model about how different parts of the brain interact so that students can learn to recognize and read words fluently. We will explore this new model and how it can help teachers, educators and parents better support students first learning to read, or students who have difficulties in reading.
