Join us for Afro-Brazilian dance with amazing instructor Karla Alarcon Avila on Mondays 6:00-7:30pm. The lessons will run from February 5th to April 8th, a total of 8 sessions (please see the specific dates below). Dress comfortably and dance with sneakers or barefoot. Drop-ins are welcome ($20 per session at the welcome table on event date), but we strongly recommend enrolling in the full program for a more enriching learning and dance experience. Afro Brazilian dance is full of spontaneity, soulful, exotic, and dynamic movement that will energize your body and spirit. The goal of the workshop is to learn a choreography that showcases all the movement we will learn over an 8-week period.

About Karla:
Karla Avila, a captivating and dynamic dancer from Guatemala raised in Berkeley, CA, began her dance journey at a young age. Specializing in Mexican Folklore, she has become a Maestra and ambassador for its cultural richness, leading groups and workshops. Karla’s diverse influences include West African Dance, International Style Latin Ballroom, and Salsa, seamlessly blending them into a fusion that transcends cultural boundaries. As an instructor, she imparts a deep connection to music and human experience in her teaching, inspiring aspiring dancers to explore their artistic voices. Karla’s ongoing exploration of movement, emotion, and creativity invites audiences on a mesmerizing journey, celebrating life and the enduring power of artistic expression.
